When we started Mast Cell Decoded, the plan was always bigger than a forecast. A score for the day’s air, pollen, pressure, clouds and geomagnetic activity is useful, but it only tells half the story. The other half is you: how you felt, what you took, what you ate, and whether a rough day lined up with anything at all. Today we’re opening two new tools to help with that half.
The Health Diary
Living with MCAS takes a lot of detective work. The Health Diary is built to make the note-taking part quick, so you have something to look back on when a bad day comes.
- How you feel. Rate your day with five hearts and add as many notes as you like.
- Flares. How bad, which symptoms, and what might have set it off. The diary also keeps count of the days since your last one.
- Supplements and medications. What you’ve taken lately shows up as one-tap buttons with your usual amount.
- Food, activity and care. Just what’s new or out of the ordinary to eat, plus workouts, walks, and doctor, urgent care or ER visits.
- Measurements. Weight, body fat, blood pressure, heart rate, temperature and sleep, in the units you use.
Every day sits next to its forecast, and a month calendar puts your hearts, flares and forecast scores side by side. Forgot a day? Open it and fill it in.
We also built Travel Mode. Tell the diary where you’re headed, and the forecast (and your forecast emails) follow you there. Each day remembers where you were, so a trip doesn’t muddy your history.
A note on what the diary can and can’t do: it can help you notice patterns, but a pattern isn’t a cause, and nothing it shows is medical advice. Bring what you find to your doctor.
The Medicine Cabinet
The Medicine Cabinet keeps track of every supplement and medication you’ve tried, sorted into four columns: works for me, not sure yet, want to try, and not for me. Drag things between them as you learn, add notes on dose, brand or reactions, and bring a clear, current list to your next appointment instead of trying to remember.
The Medicine Cabinet is free with an account. With a subscription, you can also log each dose in a tap, and it lands in your Health Diary next to how you felt that day.
Your data stays yours
This is the most personal information on the site, so we’ve been careful with it. Your notes, and the names of what you take and who you see, are encrypted before they’re stored. We don’t sell or share it, and there’s no advertising. You can export everything as spreadsheets, or delete it all, any time, from your account page. Our privacy policy has the details in plain language.
Pricing
Today’s forecast and the Medicine Cabinet are free. A subscription is $5 a month and includes the full 5-day forecast with daily forecast emails, the Health Diary, dose logging, and every tool we add from here. You can cancel any time. See pricing for the full picture.
Still in beta
The site is still in beta, and these tools are brand new. Some things will change as we learn how people actually use them, and there’s another tool in the works that we’ll share when it’s ready. If something’s confusing, broken, or missing, please let us know. It genuinely shapes what we build next.
